I’ve “met” and “chatted” with Kindermusik educator Shirley Grossman of Spokane, Washington, only through the KMLoopers online group, but I’ve long realized that she is full of wisdom, both KM and otherwise, in dealing with children and parents. Today she shared with us online that a KM dad in one of her classes had written an article about her. After reading the article and especially listening to the mp3 sound clip, I thought it was well worth passing along for all of us to glean from.
Read the entire article here, and hear the mp3 clip here.
BRAVA, Shirley! You are an exceptionally gifted, passionate Kindermusik educator, and we, as Kindermusik educators, all benefit from the example you set.
For those of you teaching Young Child this fall, you may have received new dulcimers and wondered what on earth was going on?! The dulcimers have three strings, instead of the customary two! Just in case you wondered what to do with that third string, Carol Penney explains the ins and outs of working with three-string dulcimers.
Several Georgia educators have been enrolled in the Family Time webclass offered by Kindermusik International. There have been numerous discussions about the different class structure as well as the new and different activities included. Here’s a video tip on how to make Family Jam work better for your classes.
Just in case you haven’t caught this on Molly McGinn’s blog, I thought I’d share this here with all of our Georgia educators. This will whet your appetite for convention in November. If nothing else, it will give you a good giggle at the creativity in the home office of Kindermusik International! Enjoy!
Daneille Grimes may be in need of a couple of Red Music Box At Home materials next week. She won’t know definitely until Wednesday. If anyone in the metro Atlanta area has any to spare, would you please email her and let her know? Daneille may be contacted at childmusic@comcast.net. Shipping has gotten to be so prohibitive that it would really be great if we could all check out our stored materials and help each other out.
I just received a letter today from Mission Love Seeds, Inc., the group that the Bennetts have been working with in Mississippi. In it, they announced that the Summer Fund Raiser raised over $8700.00. Most of the funds will be used to continue to assist Katrina victims in Mississippi with supplies and other needed items. A portion of the funds also will go to food, clothing, and Bible studies for children in the Phillippines. For those of you who participated through Ginger, I know it must give you a satisfying feeling, as it did me, to know that all of this fund goes directly to those in need since Mission Love Seeds is an all volunteer organization. Thanks, Ladies!
