This Wednesday, June 20th, one of our own Georgia educators, Jane Hendrix, will be winging her way to Africa to spend 10 days with the South African Kindermusik educators, celebrating their Kindermusik convention with them and spending time teaching in their PDS sessions. Besides teaching Kindermusik and voice lessons as well as directing an Arts School for her church, Jane is also the chairman and liaison for the Peer Advisory Board of the Partnership of Kindermusik Educators. If you don’t know Jane yet (your loss, believe me!), here is some information from the Partnership’s site:
Jane Hendrix loves teaching Kindermusik. When she became the director of Dunwoody School for the Arts in 1993, she decided that an early childhood music program would be a great way to “grow” a new crop of students for the private teachers. Jane was busy teaching voice lessons but thought a couple of Kindermusik classes would help supplement her teaching and wouldn’t add much time or work. HA!Kindermusik has taken over her life! Jane has served the Kindermusik community as a Workshop Administrator, Mentor, several positions on the KEA Board, Speaker’s Bureau member, and Chairman and Liaison of the Peer Advisory Board for the Partnership of Kindermusik Educators, on top of the classes she teaches each week.
When Jane’s not doing Kindermusik related business, she continues to teach voice students and run Dunwoody School for the Arts. She has a Master’s of Music degree and is thankful she has been able to work in her chosen field. Her husband, David, and son, Travis are both creative, artistic people who support Jane’s life work. The church where her school is located, Dunwoody Baptist Church, offers a wonderful environment to teach the arts. And, above all, Jane is honored to have been a part of the families who have come through her program. Life is good!
Have a safe and profitable journey, Jane! And while you’re there, please tell the S.A. educators “hey” from the Georgia peaches!
